The General Characteristics of the Hotel
The hotel "Marshal" is situated in the building constructed in the
beginning of the XX century by famous architect L. Ruska since 2001.
Earlier there were stables of Royal guard and barracks for cavalry.
Many famous persons served as cavalry officers here and devoted
themselves fully to their military career: Decembrist prince
Volchonsky, the first president of Finland marshal Carl Gustav Emil
Mannerhaim and others. The owners of the hotel are mostly retired
military rnen and people from Finland prefer to stay here so the name
"Marshal" was chosen to commemorate as the honour of that important
political person. It is planned to organise memorial museum to
recreate the atmosphere of previous times.
The military spirit influences all the present activity in the hotel -
everything is executed effectively, accurately and properly just
army-like. Furthermore all the stuff is friendly, hospitable and
skillfully organised. You will be served in a moment even if you
decide to have your lunch in the night. The hotel administrator
O.Stepanova is sure that all the stuff is intended to make your
staying as pleasant as possible and even improve your mood greatly.
The hotel is situated in Shpalernaya st. in the historical centre of
Saint-Petersburg. It takes about 15 min on foot to get Chernyshevskaya
underground station and then 5 min to get Nevsky prospect - the main
street of the city.
Not far from the hotel you can observe the marvellous Smolny
cathedral, constructed by famous barocco architect F.Rastrelli ,
Kikin's mansion- one of the true examples of Peter's I times and
Taurida palace- the residence of Prince G.Potyomkin, who is known as
Catherin's II favourite and statesman. If you go towards the
Neva-river embankment you will see Shemyakin's monument devoted to
memory of Stalin's repressions victims.
